The Havelock is fully accessible with a ramp pathway. You can get in via press button automatic doors. A buzzer/speaker phone is available to contact specific rooms if required.
There are toilets available on both floors, with a disabled toilet and baby change facilities on the ground floor.
Both halls and office have hearing loop systems for the hard of hearing.

Ground floor (Also see room hire)

There are 2 rooms on the ground floor, small and large, separated by double doors which can be opened to make one bigger L shaped room. The large room has access to a beautiful enclosed garden with an all- weather soft surface and the small room has shutter access into the kitchen.

The large room takes maximum 30 people (seated) 50 standing.

The small room takes maximum 16 people (seated) 30 standing.

There is also a large garden room with its own kitchenette and access to the garden through bifold doors.  This takes maximum 30 people (seated) 50 standing.


We have a fully fitted kitchen, complete with fitted range cooker, fridge and dishwasher. There is plenty of crockery and cutlery. Hirers of any of the halls can use the kitchen for a small charge. There are 2 stainless steel tea trolleys to help with serving refreshments at your event/group.

First Floor

The upstairs hall is well suited for games, children’s activities, parties or big meetings.  We have a small kitchenette complete with kettle, fridge and hot and cold water.  Lift available for access. There is a toilet on this level. Adult and Children’s tables and chairs are available.


We have large and medium sized trestle tables and folding seats. We also have 8 toddler tables and approx. 25 toddler chairs. A chair trolley is available for easy movement and storage of chairs in the upstairs hall.


We have full performing rights music licences and the licence to serve alcohol (but not to sell it – so bring your own).


Havelock Community Centre is in Fawcett road, next to the Bold Forrester pub near the Tesco in Albert Road. There is a small car park at the side of the building. There is a disabled bay there and also one on the road in front of the centre. Parking is free but please check for parking restrictions.

Regular bus services through Albert Road and nearby.

Book Swap and Cards

In the foyer, we’ve got a book case crammed with a wide variety of paperbacks, hardbacks, fiction and non-fiction for sale, along with bookmarks too. You can also buy hand crafted ornaments and handcrafted cards for all occasions at very reasonable prices. We have a variety of Jams and Jellies for sale and also have a pre-loved jewellery section. All proceeds go towards improving the centre.
